Itigo Girls High School in Chesumei constituency Nandi county has been closed indefinitely and students released to go home following last Wednesday’s fire incident which gutted down two dormitories.
According to a reliable source, the students were released to go home after a lengthy discussion by the education stakeholders so as to pave way for investigation into the incident which its cause has not yet been established.
The two dormitories with a capacity of eighty students each were razed down by fire on Wednesday evening when students were taking their dinner and no one was harmed nor hurt during the incident.
Nothing was salvaged as all the students beddings and items were reduced to ashes completely leaving them counting losses as the county disaster management vehicle arrived late at the scene of the disaster when fire had already razed down everything.
Form one and form four students are slated to come back on Monday while the form Two’s and Three’s are supposed to return to school on Wednesday next week.
Investigations to establish the real cause of the fire incident at the institution are ongoing with the police are working on it.
Fire incidences have been rampant in schools currently across the country where property worthy millions have been destroyed thus the government should move with speed to establish the problem and find a lasting solution to this matter.
