“Our competitors in Western say they have a better deal than us, but do you see them attain it? It’s a tall order that can be equated to day dreaming.”
These are not my words, but those of the Chairman Azimio Executive Council and outgoing Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya.
In an exclusive interview on West FM’s Cross Fire, Oparanya says whereas their opponents have been issued with a tough condition of delivering seventy percent of Western votes “Our unwritten agreement in Azimio la Umoja is that, we will seat down and share government based on votes delivered to the Azimio basket”.
Oparanya says Western position in the Azimio government is as strong as he has already been accorded the CS National Treasury, as the Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa will still remain in government in addition to Rt. Hon. Kenneth Marende being seconded to be the Senate speaker.
He added that he is quite sure that Western will get even more high positions. However, he was quick to add that, what is more important and of prime concern to them are not positions but what is in store for the residents.
“We have been in opposition for so many years, our people have suffered a lot, our people do not have jobs because all our factories have been closed, this is what concerns us more than individual positions,” says Oparanya Kakamega County first Governor.
Upon becoming the CS National Treasury, my first priority will be to look for money to revive all our sugar factories. This he said is not tenable in the first 100 days but residents will be able to see visible changes within six months.
Asked about zoning, the chair Azimio Executive Council says everyone seeking the Presidency will want to have as many foot soldiers in both Senate and the National Assembly. As a result in Western region he says they have received the opinion poll report for all candidates from Constituency level and above and that the most popular person will be the candidate saves in places where candidates have equal strength. Meanwhile, he declared that zoning will not affect MCAs as they will be left to battle it out freely.
He exuded confidence that Azimio la Umoja will sweep through Western region.
