The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has approved the promotion of judicial officers to magistrates, following promotion interviews that were conducted in November. In an internal memo from the JSC secretary Anne Amadi dated 10th December, it was noted that the promotions were approved after a JSC meeting with effect from December 10th.
22 judicial officers have been promoted to positions of chief magistrates, 27 have been promoted to positions of senior principal magistrates, 80 have been promoted to positions of principal magistrates, 4 have been promoted to positions of senior resident magistrates, 8 have been promoted to positions of senior principal kadhis, 16 have been promoted to principal kadhis, 21 have been promoted to senior resident kadhis and 2 promoted to senior principal deputy registrars.
Some of the promoted officers who hail from Western include Kavedza Diana Rachel, Abuya Stella Nabwire, Makungu Rose Nyanunga who’ve been promoted to chief magistrates, Wambilyanga Joane Namrome, Munyekenya Mildred Natecho who’ve been promoted to senior principal magistrates, Shikwe Gilbert Omuyaku, Onzere Everlyne Makungu, Sarapai Lyna Nafula, Yvonne Khatambi Inyama, Barasa Nancy Nang’uni, Mukholi Peter Omuyele, Nyongesa Edwin Wasike, Makila Symphie Nekesa, Barasa Isabela Nekesa, Njalale Mukhaye Karen, Nambafu Calestous Sindani, Wesonga Joy Shiundu, Wanyama Mercy Nasimiyu, Makokha Margaret Nafula, Esther Nasimiyu Wanjala have been promoted to principal magistrates, Shimenga Maureen Iberia has been promoted to the position of senior resident magistrate.
