Jubilee has cancelled the party nomination exercise in 11 Counties. The Counties are Narok, Kajiado, Kericho, Bomet, Baringo, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Embu, Nakuru & Trans Nzoia. According to Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju, the new voting dates will be announced, and he apologized for the inconvenience caused.
The party primaries had witnessed massive delays and confusion, arising from a shortage of voting material among other reasons. In Nandi, County returning officer Solomon Mangira had indicated that there was a significant shortage of voting material and that the aspirants together with residents had been infuriated by the issue.
In West Pokot County, Governor Simon Kachapin expressed his disappointment with the whole process, saying that Raphael Tuju and the organizing team had failed the party. He said that the party had enough funds to procure election material for the nominations, “Aspirants had paid nomination fees to facilitate party nominations but what is happening now is a total mess,” he said. Kachapin faulted Jubilee County officials for not performing according to the expectations.
