Shinyalu Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Bernard Shinali, represented President Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee Party at the defection ceremony. In his defection speech, Shikuku explained some of the reasons that made him switch parties, key among them was the similarity between his personal manifesto and that of Jubilee Party.
“What Kenyans need is a blueprint that would lead the country to tangible economic growth and development for increased sources of livelihoods and improved living standards,” noted Shikuku who praised the ruling party’s manifesto, saying it had explained properly how
such could be achieved through sound structures.
He dismissed as propaganda claims that Jubilee Party was misusing the taxpayers’ money to buy out self-centred losers from the recent national polls who vied through parties affiliated to the National Super Alliance (NASA).
“My decision to join President Uhuru Kenyatta’s team is purely personal and has not been influenced by any external forces,” Shikuku told members of the press on the sidelines of the function.

He promised to team up with other Jubilee Party leaders in the Sub County to ensure the President and his Deputy, William Ruto, receive majority votes in the October 26 presidential elections.
Shinali lauded Shikuku following his bold decision to join the ruling party, adding it was a confirmation of the growing popularity of the party in the Western region.
“The President has identified Shikuku among the leading Kenyan youths with sound economic development visions, thus his acceptance to have him within the Jubilee fold,” said Shinali as he delivered the president’s message to the locals.
He assured the locals that the president would personally visit the area where he will launch several development projects and programmes soon.
Several other politicians who vied for elective seats through other parties joined Shikuku in embracing Jubilee Party. Mr. Stephen Kisaka who failed to capture Likuyani’s parliamentary seat via Jubilee Party also praised the defectors, noting their collective decision would enable the ruling party to implement its economic and political agenda easily in the area.
