Kabiyet police station in Nandi North sub-county has been temporarily closed after a police officer at the station tested positive for the Coronavirus. Confirming the incident, Nandi County police commander Mr Samson Olekina said the police officer who tested positive for Covid-19 is currently at Nandi hills isolation center receiving medication. “The police officer has been regularly taking the remandees to prison and we suspect he also came in contact with other officers,” Olekina said.
He said contact tracing is ongoing and all the police officers at the station have been taken to mandatory quarantine and the station closed temporarily to allow fumigation process. “The remandees have tested negative and are safe,” he added. He has urged Nandi residents to strictly observe the Ministry of Health’s directives so as to be safe.
