As the race for the Kabuchai and Matungu by-election intensifies, ANC and Ford Kenya have thought it wise to join forces and field one candidate, which will also be a measure of their political muscle for the 2022 presidential race.
The two parties partnered and had two candidates one in Kabuchai and one in Matungu. This will mean Ford Kenya will support ANC’s candidate Peter Oscar Nabulindo vying for the Matungu seat while ANC will have to back Joseph Kalasinga Majimbo in Kabuchai.
“This is the unity team in these by-elections. Anyone outside the unity of ANC and Ford Kenya is a traitor, enemy, and a project against the Mulembe nation,” said Mr Mudavadi.
“We won’t allow other people to come in this region and dismantle our resolve and unity through the by-elections,” he added.
It is now clear that the two political leaders have combined forces to bring together the Western Region vote and come up with one strong candidate for the top seat come the next general election. The ongoing by-elections will act as a litmus test for the 2022 presidential election with each party drumming up support for their political side.
