The Nyumba Kumi initiative chairperson Joseph Kaguthi has urged the leaders of the cluster groups to mobilize and ensure citizens are registered as voters. This comes amidst the ongoing mobilization campaigns by both local and national leaders all over the country, as registration timeline nears its conclusion. He noted that the number of the geographically represented cluster groups is large enough, implying that many will be registered if they take the initiative seriously.
He reminded the leaders of the cluster groups that the fight against crime and drugs menace is their responsibility and also the responsibility of Kenyans. He urged Kenyans in their various cluster groups not to hold back any information which is essential in the fight against the drug abuse, especially in the Coast region where the practice is prevalent.
Kaguthi revealed that individuals should now use a common toll number, 22068, to report any suspicious or criminal incidents. He said using the toll number enables one to maintain anonymity and the details an individual has to give include the County where the incident has happened and the bits of information he or she wants to deliver, then the required action will be done.
The advancement of social media has come in handy and has helped the Nyumba Kumi initiative given that communication is faster, especially on platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram.
