Kakamega, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia are among 22 County governments that are set to benefit from the Kenya Devolution Support Programme (KDSP) funding. Speaking at the launch of the KDSP programme Round 2, Level 2, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa lauded the Counties that have qualified to receive the funding.
Nyandarua was the best among the 22, while Busia was also recognized for its efforts to set up a fish market. The KDSP program is aimed at supporting Counties’ capacity in public fund management, planning, investments among other vital areas contributing to devolution, and is a Kshs 20 billion initiative by the Kenyan government and World Bank.
CS Wamalwa encouraged the World Bank to continue supporting them for they help in strengthening national and County institutions to improve devolved service delivery. According to the KDSP disbursement schedule for County governments level 2 performance grants Kakamega will receive Kshs 262 million, while Bungoma County will get Kshs 212 million this year and Busia will get Kshs 111 million.
