Kakamega County Chief of Staff Robert Sumbi has succumbed to Covid-19. His demise on Thursday morning comes a day after Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya closed the County headquarter offices after several County workers tested positive for the virus. Sumbi had been admitted at the Kakamega general hospital.
Governor Oparanya had revealed that at least 316 residents had tested positive for the Coronavirus, 7 people had already died and 155 were admitted at three County isolation hospital centres, 54 being health workers. One of the isolation centres is already full and patients are being sent to Likuyani at the moment. Two more hospitals will be converted to isolation centres to cater for the big numbers being recorded, one in Butere and Mautuma in Lugari sub county.
