Kakamega county commissioner Abdulrizzak Jaldesa has warned chiefs and their assistants against settling defilement cases outside courts saying they risk losing their jobs. Speaking in Likuyani Sub County during the 55th Madaraka day celebrations, Jaldesa expressed concerned over increased cases of domestic violence, suicide and defilement incident within the county.
The county commissioner said that statistics in his office indicated that the three were leading among crime ratings in the county. “It is regrettable Kakamega County is leading in cases of defilement, domestic violence and suicide compared to other counties,” said Jaldesa.
He regretted the recent incident where a 42 year old man was arrested for allegedly defiling and sodomizing his 9 month old daughter at Chepsai village in Chevaywa location Matete Sub County.
He issued a stern warning to chiefs and their assistants who will be found settling such cases outside court, saying they will be dealt with accordingly pointing out that such gestures had led to the escalation of the vice in the county. “It was a serious violation of children rights to locally settle defilement cases outside court and to anybody found perpetrating such
