Kakamega used Ksh. 10M to spoil Wetangula’s Day
Kakamega county assembly has kicked off investigation to determine whether public funds were misappropriated by the county government of Kakamega in its effort to ruin the Bungoma senator’s presidential bid launch at Muliro gardens in Kakamega last Saturday.
This has been revealed by the Kakamega county assembly minority leader who is also the Chekalini ward representative Titus Kwoma.
Addressing the press, Kwoma said that they have proof on allegations from reliable sources that the county government of Kakamega spent a tune of Kshs. 10 million to ensure that the event fails.

The minority leader said that they are banking on a number of MCA’S who were close to the leadership of the county government to give them details on how the money was used and how much.
He said that members of the county assembly allied to the ODM party were given money to hire buses to transport their supporters who would have been part of the goons to cause chaos but for one reason or the other they agreed to keep the money to themselves.
Adding that part of the expenditure is said to have been allocated to hiring of tents and seats an idea which he rubbished saying that there was no single sit nor chair hired by the county government in that event.
“2.5 million shillings is said to have been used to hire tents and seats for the event, did anyone see any seat or tent from the county government that day?” Kwoma Paused.
He further termed the idea of forcing the county government staff to participate in the event as unconstitutional adding that each employee has got a right to support a political party of his or her own and should not be forced in party affairs.
The leader further called upon the Kakamega county governor Wycliffe Oparanya to ask his chief of staff at the county Nabii Nabwera to step aside and allow the case he is facing in court be concluded and determined before he resumes duty.

“I advise the chief of staff who is also the suspected culprit behind the Saturday’s chaos to step aside and allow investigations against him”. Said kwoma who was quick to add that if found innocent he will resume office but if guilty he should be put in jail.
Pointing fingers at the ODM party Kakamega county as being behind the chaos, Kwoma called upon the mandated parties to do thorough investigations and take action against those who will be found guilty.
Two people sustained serious injuries during the chaos and are undergoing treatment at the Kakamega county government under tight police supervision.
The Kakamega county commissioner Kangethe Thuku has assured that the two will appear before a court of law when in a position to stand trials.
The Kakamega county chief of staff Nabii Nabwera was arrested last week Sunday as a major suspect behind masterminding the attacks and has appeared before the court for the same.
Governor Oparanya has denied being behind the attacks saying that Wetangula has got many enemies and terming poor planning as a possible cause of the same.
