It was a relief to many Kamukuywa ward residents in Bungoma County and those from the nearby wards after doctors from America set up a medical camp in the area to offer medical services to residents suffering from different ailments.
Speaking at the camp, Kamukuywa ward MCA Peter Sindani said through his connections he managed to bring 25 doctors who are specialized in treating different ailments to help the residents free of charge saying many of the residents cannot afford treatment.
He said the five day medical camp targets to treat at least two hundred patients per day saying many who had previously been referred elsewhere can now afford to be checked and be treated free of charge by the qualified doctors.
He said Kamukuywa ward has the Makhonge health center which lacks capacity to cater for the different and other complicated ailments, and as a result, it is a relief to the residents whom he says had many hopes after voting for him as their leader to make sure he takes care of their needs.
Some of the residents who got a chance to be treated at the camp expressed their joy saying it was godsend as they can now afford good health.
Edward Mbarak, a bodaboda rider, said his body was aching and he had problems with his eyes but managed to be treated by the specialists and he can now perform his duties well.
Hon. Sindani also said through his Peter Sindani Foundation he has set up many programs to help the community which includes offering computer studies especially to the youths who end up being self-employed.
He also disclosed that he is aiming to empower women and youth groups through training that is aimed at impacting them with entrepreneurial skills that are vital in the current world.
