More than one hundred members of the Kamusinde Community-based organisation group covering Kamkuywa and Maeni wards are a happy lot after receiving water pumps from a well-wisher to help them carry out horticulture projects with ease.
Joe Khaemba, the well-wisher said the move is aimed at helping the group members improve their lifestyles by helping them get a bumper harvest of vegetables and fruits, saying there is a ready market for both of them as there is a high demand all over the country.

He added that such projects at the grass root level if well executed, will end up uplifting the lives of the members saying they will be able to water their plants throughout the year as opposed to people in other areas who only wait for the rainy seasons.
Mr. Khaemba further called upon the group members to also consider venturing in poultry farming because it will be able to boost their income. He said they have to form clusters at each village and thereafter, they have to undergo a training on how to keep chicken so as to benefit from the recently opened Chwele chicken slaughter house by the Bungoma County government.
Khaemba who is also eyeing the Kimilili parliamentary seat on a Jubilee ticket called upon Kimilili residents to support the Jubilee government led by his excellency president Uhuru Kenyatta so as to achieve development saying, being in the opposition camp hasn’t helped the region for a long time now.

The CBO chairman David Masinde applauded the efforts of the well-wisher to empower them to be self-reliant. He, however, called upon other leaders to emulate the good gesture of Joe, saying the move will help people at the grass root level who are committed to better their lives.
Earlier in a meeting with village elders and Nyumba Kumi initiative representatives from Kimilili ward, Khaemba called upon residents to work closely with them to curb issues of insecurity in the area saying the two form a vital entity in the society.
He also called upon those who had applied for national identity cards to visit the chief’s and assistant chief’s offices to collect the important document so as to enable them participate in next year’s general election exercise as well as have access to other services that require the document.
