Kapenguria MP Mr. Samuel Moroto has expressed his frustration with the frequent power outages in Kapenguria, and threatened to sue KPLC. Moroto accused the Kenya Power Company of poor costumer services that greatly affect its service delivery to the locals.
Speaking in Makutano town, Moroto called for the transfer of Kenya Power officers working in the area. “Records indicate that a lot of money has been pumped to West Pokot County yet we still use generators, 55 years after independence,” he said.
He called of an overhaul in the management of the Company in the region for sleeping on their job. “We are losing millions of shillings due to power outages in this town and we are giving the management two weeks to solve the problem or we will move to court to demand compensation,” said Moroto.
The MP complained that KPLC has failed to reliably supply electricity to the general population.
Area residents and traders said that power outages are unbearable and it is affecting their businesses. They said that they continue to suffer losses running into millions of shillings due to lack of power in the area. They urged the region’s KPLC office to apologize, admit liability and compensate them for the losses.
