Vihiga residents are set to enjoy closer government services after the National government promised to build an Huduma centre in the region. Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Public service, Youth and Gender Affairs Sicily Kariuki said the one-stop centre will enable the residents to easily access government services at their convenience.
“The government has nearly built Huduma centres across the country and Vihiga County is one of the areas to benefit from the projected plan to bring services closer to the locals,” said Kariuki. She said the government has earmarked the area as the beneficiary and put aside funds in this fiscal year to complete the project.
Kariuki added this week a technical team from the Ministry will visit the area on a fact-finding mission before it is constructed. She asked the area County Commissioner Pauline Dola to work together with the team to its successful completion for the benefit of the locals.
She asked the residents to shun politicians out to divide them along ethnic lines and instead preach peace during this electioneering period. The CS also appealed to youth, and women to make use of affirmative funds the government has allocated to improve their welfare. The CS also challenged Kenyans to reduce gender-based violence which she said had negatively affected women and children.
