Candidates preparing for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams in Vihiga County have been warned against engaging in cheating.
Speaking in her office the area County Director of Education Victoria Mulili said preparations for the exams are over and called upon candidates to prepare well for the KCPE exam, that kicks off on Tuesday across the country.
She said the Sub County Directors of education in each of the five Sub Counties in Vihiga are working closely with headteachers to make sure there is no cheating in the coming exams.
“We have put up mechanisms in place to curb exam cheating in all schools around the County, and we are calling upon those we are working closely with to help us manage this,” she said.
She added that security has been beefed up in schools to ensure exams goes on without external interference.
“Security agencies in the area are alert and we are optimistic that exams will go on well as planned without any sought of interference,” Mulili said.
The total number of KCSE candidates in the County is 12,833 and 16,195 KCPE candidates. Mulili noted that each Sub County has an exam storage container where all materials are kept safely before and after the exercise.
