Education CS Prof. George Magoha has assured all candidates who did the KCPE 2019 exam that they’ll join secondary schools under the government’s 100 percent transition program. Speaking during the release of the 2019 KCPE results, he said all children will have a place in the secondary schools. The CS added that the Ministry of Education has received strict instructions to ensure a fair and transparent process of placing the children in secondary schools.
The placement process will start on Tuesday and by 2nd December, all candidates will know which secondary schools they’ll be joining. On the issue of exam leakages, eh said their was no leakage and fake exam papers weren’t on sale as it was in past years. He said issues of teenage pregnancies have also reduced, citing that as evidence that parents and teachers are spending more time with their children, “I want to urge them to continue to have time for their children,” he said.
On the issue of infrastructure in schools, the government has set aside Kshs 8 billion to improve infrastructure in high school and primary schools in 30 Counties. “I want to give you my word that I’ll spend my time to ensure that the public gets value for that money,” he affirmed. The government, in partnerships with stakeholders, will also provide 9,000 scholarships, and part of those must go to the slums of the inner cities.
