The 2019 KCSE results were officially released by Education CS Prof. George Magoha on Wednesday, and there was a marked improvement in the overall performances. The top student, Tony Buluma Wabuko, scored an A of 87.159 points. Good performances were also evident in schools in Western province, with Bungoma County not left behind. Friends School Kamusinga continued its rich tradition of academic triumphs, while other schools established themselves as top notch academic heads.
Breaking down some of the numbers, Friends School Kamusinga, commonly known as FSK, registered 9 As, 62 A-, 76 B+, 50 Bs, 38 B-, 24 C+, 16 Cs, 9 C-, 1 D+ and 1 D. The school, had a mean grade of 9.16 and leads the way in Bungoma County. The neighbors St. Luke’s Kimilili Boys High School had a mean score of 6.9833, with 12 A-, 43 B+, 41 Bs, 62 B-, 72 C+, 91 Cs, 71 C-, 18 D+, 9 Ds, 1 D-. In the girls schools’ category, the most notable performance was from Lugulu Girls High school, which had 1 A, 26 A-, 73 B+, 70 Bs, 62 B-, 9 C+, 67 Cs, 11 C-, 6 D+ and 2 Ds, and had a mean grade of 8.323.
in terms of ranking, FSK was the best school in the County, followed by Lugulu Girls with a score of 8.323, Cardinal Otunga Girls High School with a mean score of 7.382, Kimilili Boys High School with a mean score of 6.983, St. Mary’s Kibabii Boys High School with a mean score of 6.897, Misikhu Girls with a mean score of 6.491, Teremi Boys High School with a mean score of 6.46, Chesamisi High School with a mean score of 5.978, Moi Girls Kamusinga with a score of 5.965 and Bungoma High School with a mean score of 5.85 closing the top ten.
