Athletes Kelvin Kiptum, Pamela Adhiambo, Beatrice Chebet and Rosemary Wanjiru were awarded at a multiple award ceremony that has never been held in Nairobi.
London Marathon champion and second fastest long distance athlete, Kelvin Kiptum, has received the award of athlete of the month for April this year.
Kiptum, 23, ran 02:01:25 and recorded the second fastest time, 17 seconds behind Eliud Kipchoge’s marathon world record of 02:01:09 set at the Berlin marathon 2022. He won his first marathon at the Valencia competition using 2:01:53 last year in the fastest marathon race in athletics history.
Elsewhere, world cross-country champion Chebet won the award for February. The world champion of under-20 countries of 2019, defeated Tsigie Gebreselama of Ethiopia and his companion Agnes Jebet and won the championship held in Bathurst for a time of 33:48 minutes
