Kemeloi Boys High School in Aldai Sub-County Nandi County has re-opened its doors after a Month of closure following rampant student’s unrest.
The school was closed down indefinitely due to student’s unrest which saw the destruction of the school property worth Millions.
The school management had no option but to send home all the students in order to pave way for investigations after the school was closed down three times in a span of one Month following this unrest blamed on incitement by the local community among them some teachers and parents.
Students reported back to school from Thursday and Friday this week whereas the thirteen suspected students of form one, two and three have been charged for destroying school property worth Kshs 2.9M in the institution.
The culprits were arraigned in Kapsabet Law Courts before the Senior Principal Magistrate Duke Ocharo over the October, 16th incident at the institution where they caused wreckage to school property including doors, window panes, computers, ICT room, and CCTV cameras among other important property.
The suspects denied charges and were released on a bond of Kshs 50,000 with a surety of the same. The case is set to be mentioned on 31st October, 2022.
Previous week, the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who was in Nandi for Koitalel Samoei’s celebrations made a visit to the school and intervened promising to solve the challenges facing the Institution.
Gachagua urged all education stakeholders in the institution to work together closely and avoid any incitement which is blamed for frequent student’s unrest at the institution which has paralyzed learning.
