The Health Ministry has confirmed 1,211 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus, from a sample size of 9,304 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing Kenya’s Covid-19 caseload to 76,404. In a statement from Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, it was revealed that cumulative tests conducted so far are 833,004. The fatalities on the other hand have risen to 1,366, after 17 patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours. This comes even as KMPDU confirmed two doctors have died within the last day, Kenyatta National Hospital’s Dr. Anthony Were Omollo and Dr. Nira Patel.
368 patients have recovered from the disease, 265 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 103 have been discharged from various hospitals, the total recoveries now stand at 51,352. 1,134 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 6,805 are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 67 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 36 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 31 on supplemental oxygen. Another 77 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 73 are in the general wards and 4 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
The distribution of cases in Counties is as follows; Nairobi 410, Mombasa 102, Migori 93, Bungoma 79, Uasin Gishu 55, Kiambu 42, Nakuru 40, Kilifi 39, Nyeri 30, Kisumu 30, Busia 28, Laikipia 27, Turkana 26, Machakos 25, Meru 25, Kisii 24, Kajiado 21, Trans Nzoia 17, Kakamega 12, Nyamira 12, Homabay 11, Siaya 9, Narok 8, Kitui 7, Embu 5, Nandi 4, Kwale 4, Murang’a 4, Kericho 4, Garissa 4, Taita Taveta 3, Lamu 3, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Isiolo 2, Tana River 2, Wajir 1, and Makueni 1.
