727 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed, taking Kenya’s total cases to 78,512. Speaking on Tuesday, Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said the new cases were picked from 4,913 samples tested in the last 24 hours. Of the new cases, 705 are Kenyans while 22 are foreigners. The youngest is a 4-month-old child while the oldest is 88 years old.
17 more patients succumbed to the virus, taking the fatalities to 1,409. 806 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 52,709. 701 of those discharged are from the home-based programme, while 105 were discharged from various health facilities.
There are 1,196 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country, while 7,139 patients are on the home-based care programme. A total of 51 patients are in ICU, out of which 29 are on ventilatory support. CAS Mwangangi said 106 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 94 are in general wards and 12 in the HDU.
