Kenya National Examination board dissolved

The Kenya National Examination Council board has been dissolved Thursday 24th 2016. The governments took the move over claims of of exam leakage.

The Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, Joseph Nkaissery dissolved the board and ordered for the arrest of top officials who will also be required to record a statement and show cause as to why they should not be prosecuted.

Nkaissery appointed former University of Nairobi Vice-Chancellor Prof George Magoha the new chairman of the board.

Nkaissery said they believe the officials were greatly involved in the cheating where over that 5,000 cases of cheating were reported in the 2015 KCSE examinations.

The Kenya National Examination Council board CEO Joseph Kivilu is among the officials expected to record a statement with the police.

Some of the top officials were dismissed following the education CS Fred Matiang’i s in his promises to crack down the whip after KNECS integrity was questionable.

Matiangi said the board has failed to figure out and bring to a stop exam cheating in schools in the during national examinations both in primary and secondary last year.

Amongst top officials sent home are KNECS CEO Joseph Kivili, the senior deputy secretary of examination Ms Ambia G. Noor, Maundu Mantenzawa the deputy secretary of security, Thomas mackenzie, the principal examinations secretary, Ms Sarah Majani who is the senior deputy secretary for reprographics, Bobby Nyagah Mwai the senior deputy secretary, Geoffrey Gitogo, the senior deputy secretary in charge of ICT, Michael Ndua the principal supply chain management officer and Richard Mwangangi, a deputy secretary.

Matiangi added that all dismissed officials will be investigated before the law taking its course.

More than 5000 cases of students cheating were reported in the last years Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams.
