Kenya has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases in a day, with 1,185 new positive cases confirmed on Friday. Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the cases were picked from 9,851 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases has now risen to 53,797. The youngest of the new cases is 11 months old and the oldest is 93 years old, 1,145 are Kenyans and 40 are foreigners, with 733 being males and 452 females.
17 patients have succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 981. On the other hand, 272 patients have recovered, 203 from the Home-Based Care Program and 69 from various hospitals across the country. The recoveries are now at 35,876.
In terms of admissions, 1,119 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 4,440 are on home-based isolation. 41 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 26 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 15 on supplementary oxygen. 45 other patients are on supplementary oxygen but not in ICU and 15 are in the High Dependency Unit.
