The Ministry of Health on Monday announced that 468 people tested positive for COVID-19 from a sample of 2,699 tested in the last 24 hours.
The positivity rate is now 10.6%, with total confirmed infections rising to 182,884 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,945,736.
From the confirmed cases, 280 are Kenyans while 7 are foreigners; 170 are males and 177 females.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement confirmed 152 patients to have recovered from the disease; 84 from the Home Based and Isolation Care program while 68 were discharged from various health facilities countrywide. Total recoveries now come to 124,588.
The new cases were distributed across various counties namely; Nairobi 95,Kajiado 56, Kisii 35, Siaya 17, Homa Bay 17,Kakamega 13,Bungoma 11, Busia 9,Uasin Gishu 9,Nakuru 7,Garissa ,Vihiga 4,Kiambu 3, Migori 2,Nyeri 1,Embu 1,and Kirinyaga 1.
Unfortunately, 17 patients succumbed to the disease, all of them being of late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in the months of April,May and June.
CS Kagwe also stated that the deaths raise the cumulative fatalities to 3,612.
