The Ministry of Health has confirmed 318 new Covid-19 cases, taking Kenya’s total number of cases to 41,937. Speaking to the press during the Covid-19 status brief on Tuesday, Health CAS Rashid Aman said the samples tested in the last 24 hours were 2,592 with cumulative tests conducted now at 595,791. This comes even aw Kenyans fear a second wave of infections may already be underway, with a high number of cases recorded in the last two weeks.
Of the new cases, the youngest is a 3-year-old while the oldest is 90-years-old and 215 are males while 103 are females.
10 patients have died, taking the Covid-19 fatalities to 787. The recoveries have risen to 31,340 however, after 243 more patients recovered from the virus. 132 recovered from the home based care program, and 111 recovered from various hospitals across the country.
Nairobi County has recorded 112 cases followed by Uasin Gishu with 30. Mombasa has 29, Nakuru 25, Busia 24, Kisii 21, Kisumu 19, Kakamega 8, Murang’a 8, Kilifi 6, Laikipia, Kiambu, Embu 5 each. Homa Bay has 4 cases, Trans Nzoia and Turkana have 3 cases each, Machakos, Isiolo, Kajiado have 2 cases each, Nyandarua, Garissa, Tharaka Nithi, Vihiga and Kirinyaga have 1 case each.
