442 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the last 24 hours as Kenya’s total cases rise to 40,620. Speaking on Friday in Uasin Gishu County, Health CAS Rashid Aman said the new cases were picked from 5,327 samples, with 580,039 cumulative tests conducted so far.
From the cases, 419 are Kenyans while 23 are foreigners, with the youngest being a 3-year-old child and the oldest 86-years-old.
4 more patients have succumbed to the virus, with the total fatalities rising to 755. However, 166 patients have recovered, 140 under the home based care program and 26 were discharged from different hospitals. The recoveries are now at 30,876.
Nakuru has recorded the highest number of new cases among the Counties with 94, Nairobi has 80 and Mombasa 47. Uasin Gishu has 22, Embu has 20, Kisumu 20, Turkana 18, Meru 15, Trans Nzoia 14, Kisii 13, Garissa 12, Kilifi 12, Siaya 11, Kajiado 11, Baringo, Kiambu and Kericho have 10 each. Taita Taveta, Kwale, Migori, Machakos, Nandi and Vihiga have 2 cases each. Bungoma, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Nyandarua, Kitui, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kakamega and Bomet have 1 case each.
