The selection panel of the IEBC has invited Kenyans to apply for the positions of chairperson and Commissioners of the IEBC by 15th February 2025, 5pm
Through a public notice on Saturday 1st February 2025, the Dr. Nelson Makanda led selection panel invited applications from qualified Kenyansfor the recruitment of nominees as chairperson and members of the IEBC
As regards the position of Chairperson, Article 166(3) of the constitution and section 6(1) of the IEBC act sets the following as requirements for those who wish to apply:
(a) At least 15 years’ experience as a superior court judge
(b) At least 1 years’ experience as a distinguished academic, judicial officer, legal practitioner or such experience in other relevant field
(c) Held the qualifications in a and b above for an aggregate period of 15 years
(d) Met the requirements of chapter six of the constitution that highlight leadership and integrity provisions for a state officer
Six vacancies have also been advertised for members of the IEBC with the following requirements:
(a) One must hold a degree form a recognized University
(b) One must have proven knowledge and at least ten years’ experience in the fields of electoral matters, management, finance, public administration, law, information and communication technology and accounting
(c) One must also meet the requirements of chapter six of the constitution that sets provisions or leadership and integrity for state officers
One will not however be eligible if they have held office or stood for elections in the preceding five years as a member of parliament or of a county assembly or a member of the governing body of a political party of holds any state office.
The Applications will be accompanied by a detailed CV, Certified true copies of academic and professional certificates, a copy of the applicant’s national ID card or passport and testimonials and other relevant supporting documents.
In the application, candidates will attach applications, current and valid clearances form KRA, HELB, A credit reference Bureau, DCI and EACC.
All applications will be addressed to the selection panel for the recruitment of nominees for the appointment as the chairperson and members of the IEBC, P.O BOX 41842-00100, Nairobi but indicate the particular position they are applying for.
Kenyans who apply for these positions will be required to either deliver a hand-delivered envelope at 3rd floor, County House Building, Parliament Road or submit the application online as a PDF file format by emailing to [email protected]
The selection panel has 90 days since the swearing in of its members to conclude the recruitment process
