Boni Khalwale has pointed out that he ditched Ford Kenya and joined Deputy President William Ruto’s team to get the chance to be in the next government. Speaking in Hamisi, Vihiga County during the DP’s visit on Sunday, Khalwale said he analyzed the DP’s influence to other leaders who enjoyed stints in government, including President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. “Instead of gambling, I decided to work with him who helped Raila become Prime Minister and Uhuru President.”
He reiterated that the DP is open to working with the Luhya community. “Ruto is not here to fight the Luhya camp, he is here for friendship….a friendship that will enable us to be in government,” he said, adding that the DP is focused on development in the community.
On his part, DP Ruto said Kenya’s leadership can’t be measured by words but by leaders who are progressive and have a vision. He said the government is ready to work with leaders from the region and that there is no room for old, retrogressive, and tribal politics, “The current viable politics revolves around joining Kenyans,” he said. He urged youths to desist from politicking and instead look for technical colleges they can join and receive funding from the government.
“Don’t accept someone enticing you with little cash to convince you to support political agendas, why shouldn’t he enroll his child to do that?”The Deputy President later commissioned street lights at Gambogi market in Hamisi.
