Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has jumped ship to Jubilee from Ford Kenya. He made public the decision during a political meeting, attended by Deputy President William Ruto and other leaders from the Western region, in Malinya, Ikolomani, Kakamega County on Friday.
He said the Luhya community stands to benefit in Jubilee and urged others to follow his example, “We should come out of NASA, so that we can get what we missed in 2013 and 2017 while we were still there.” However, Khalwale had already shifted his attention to Jubilee, in what was a public show of support long before his declaration.
His public and persistent support for Deputy President William Ruto had drawn the ire of Ford Kenya leaders and had placed him on the edge at the party, and had him facing expulsion. The party’s disciplinary committee chairperson and Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi had faulted the move recently, “I want to tell members of our party that whatever you do we expect you to be disciplined, we don’t expect you as members of Ford Kenya to be seen dining with other parties,” he said.
