Vihiga senator George Khaniri has urged Kenyans to register in large numbers and vote out the Jubilee government to reduce poverty and corruption in the country.
The senator claimed that jubilee government had failed to meet the aspirations of Kenyans and at the same time is tainted with massive corruption.
“We cannot allow the jubilee government to continue taking advantage of our resources at the expense of Kenyans. We must unite under National Super Alliance (NASA) to send them home,” said Khaniri.
He said under the jubilee government the Kenyan economy has suffered while poverty had increased.
Khaniri said it was wrong for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to continue being in power yet they had failed to deliver their promises to Kenyans.
He said the government have no regard for the community and has refused to give them government positions like former regimes.
The senator was speaking in Hamisi Sub County during voter registration drive where he asked the residents to register and vote in the next general elections.
He called on boda boda operators not to carry those without voter’s card to ensure they enlist as voters.
“You must have your ID and voters card to ensure you participate in electing your leaders,” said Khaniri.
He lamented about low voter turnout and said the IEBC had registered 11,000 new voters in the first week against the targeted 34,000 by the commission.
The said that the IEBC has targeted a total of 100,047 new voters in the whole county in the ongoing mass registration and appealed to the locals to register.
“This a big joke and I call upon the residents and area chiefs and their assistants to help us enlist more voters by the end of the one month exercise,” said Khaniri.
