Khasoko ward MCA Daniel Sitati Makhandia in Bumula Constituency Bungoma County is dead.
Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga has said that Makhandia’s death has left a gap in Bumula leadership and therefore promised to work together with the late’s family and Bungoma County Assembly to ensure Makhandia is given a befitting send off.
“We ended the day yesterday on a wrong note for having lost our leader in the area; I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to his family, Khasoko ward residents, Bumula people and County Assembly of Bungoma. We shall continue working together with the family and the County of Bungoma during this time of grief. Let us mourn in peace!” stated Bumula MP
The leader of majority in the County Assembly of Bungoma who is also Tuuti -Marakaru MCA Joseph Nyongesa eulogized the late as a leader who had a firm stand and could not be swayed by anything.
“On behalf of my family, I sincerely send my condolences to the family and residents of Khasoko ward. We have lost a great leader who was honest and could not be bribed to change his stand; he was firm in his deeds. As an assembly we have lost a focused leader.” Eulogized Nyongesa
The chairperson of Bumula MCAs who is also Kimaeti ward MCA Jack Wambulwa mourned Makhandia as a leader who had a tough stand who could not be convinced and be bought off to satisfy other person’s interest.
“I urge Khasoko ward people to be calm as burial preparations have begun. Makhandia as he has been on a sick bed he stood firm in his work, he has been a legend and knew what he wanted.
He has left a young family, he has left when his Khasoko people still needed him.Let us mourn together to give him adecent burial, I urge my fellow MCAs to follow up and see that all that he had promised to do for his people is accomplished,” recommended Wambulwa
Ndivisi ward MCA Martin Pepela and his Mukuyuni counterpart Meshack Wekesa eulogized Makhandia as a leader who was dedicated and represented his Khasoko ward people well.
“On behalf of my Ndivisi ward people, I take this opportunity to condole with the family of my friend due to his loss, we have lost a steadfast an educationist, he stood and fought for the rights of his Khasoko ward people and by extension the minority communities in this county,” stated Pepela
“Makhandia has suffered for long he has used a lot of money but he has now left us, let us keep encouraging his family and pray that God gives them solace.” Wekesa said
Other leaders who have mourned the late include Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, Senate speaker Ken Lusaka among others.
Makhandia was elected on an independent ticket in 2017 elections and garnered 1621 votes against his immediate opponent Julius Juma who vied on Jubilee ticket and defeated him with 296 votes.
He died while receiving treatment in one hospital in Kisumu due to kidney failure.
