Speaking in his constituency Kibunguchy said it is wrong for the Head of State and Deputy President William Ruto to overreact whenever the opposition holds them to account.
“They should not lose their cool and start hurling all manner of insults to the opposition chief Raila Odinga and other Kenyans pointing out ills in the government,” said Kibunguchy.
The MP was referring to recent reactions by President Uhuru and Mr Ruto to the opposition’s accusations that the government had failed to deal with the problem of graft.
He said action must be taken against those found culpable of stealing public funds irrespective of where they come from and who they are related to.
“It is not true that wealth politicians can make the best presidents, Kenyans must learn from the past mistakes and elect untainted leaders who can steer the country to higher economic growth,” said the lawmaker.
Kibunguchy said all those named in National Youth Service and Health scandals must be held accountable.
“Let them be relieved of the duties and prosecuted if found guilty of stealing public money at the expense of citizens.”
He said the controversial leasing of medical equipment issue must be looked into to establish whether billions of taxpayers’ was lost.
“I am a member of the parliamentary Health Committee and questions abound concerning how the said equipment was procured,” he said.
According to the legislator, leaders must learn to separate politics from real issues affecting Kenyans in order drive the country forward.
