Over 800 candidates from Likuyani Sub County who sat their 2020 KCSE examinations and scored minimum university entry points will each be rewarded Kshs. 20,000 from the area MP Dr. Enoch Kibunguchy.
Addressing residents of Nzoia ward in his constituency Dr. Kibunguchy commended secondary schools in the sub county for posting improved results compared to the previous years.
He said despite challenges occasioned by the outbreak of Corona Virus in the country which disrupted learning activities for nine months, it was encouraging that most schools in the constituency performed well noting that the number of candidates who scored minimum university entry points had increased by close to 200 candidates compared to 2019.
Dr. Kibunguchy promised to reward all candidates who sat their examinations within and outside the sub county but are residents of his constituency.
“So long as you are a resident of Likuyani regardless where you sat your examinations from and managed to score C+ and above, we will give you Kshs. 20,000 once you receive your university admission letter,” said the MP.
He said this was a way of motivating other candidates to focus on their education and do better in their final examinations.
Apart from the cash Kibunguchy also promised to give laptops to all candidates from his constituency who managed grade B+ and above.
“It has been my norm over the years and it will continue so long as I am still the MP that all those who score B+ and above will each get a laptop from Dr. Kibunguchy and his family,” he concluded.
