For many years, residents of Wekelekha village of Kimaeti ward have been left behind in terms of infrastructure and other developmental projects by both the national and county governments.
Scholars from the village for instance, have been walking for longer distances for them to to get to schools being found kilometers away from the village.
The walls of the school found in the village are muddy and temporal posing a threat to the pupils using the structures.
During the campaigns of the 2022 general elections, many candidates promised to improve the status of the village; including transport sector (roads), power connectivity and availability of water for human and animal use.
To most residents of the area, commuting to the main road is a tiresome task as the feeder roads that join the main road are impassable. Motorists find it difficult to ferry passengers as they can’t carry more than one passenger.
“We urge the government to fulfill the promise they made of improving our village. Our pupils are suffering so much when it comes to matters education, ” said one of the occupants of the area.
