Elders from Kimilili and Tongaren constituencies have unanimously endorsed Dr Mukhisa Kituyi who is currently the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) secretary general as their preferred 2022 Presidential candidate. Led by retired Captain Charles Masinde, the elders said having served in a high ranking global position and considering that his tenure is coming to an end, he is now ready to lead the country. He said with president Kenyatta exiting after his final term they are confident that Dr. Mukhisa will be the best successor saying his track record is excellent.
His sentiments were echoed by Wanyonyi Bwisa from Kimilili who said it is high time for people of Western Kenya to rally behind Dr. Mukhisa, adding that with his international connections he will be able to steer the country to greater heights. They downplayed the notion that he will play the role of a spoiler for Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi saying not every elder brother in a family can be a leader. They said they will be traversing different areas in Bungoma County to rally support for Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi.
