A Bungoma based politician now wants the African Union and United Nations to investigate alleged extra judicial killings and harassment in Uganda ahead of a highly contested election slated for January 14th next year.
David Barasa popularly known as Webuye Juakali wants the Ugandan government to free Presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine after he was arrested yesterday.
“I am perturbed by the extrajudicial killings happening in Uganda, just because an opponent was carrying out campaigns, which the government says it is against Covid-19 rules,” he said.
Barasa says it is time for the government of Uganda to respect the rule of law and allow youths to carry out their campaigns saying the determinants are the electorate.
“Let them campaign, the one who will win will rule the country. The government of Uganda should stop double standards, why allow others to campaign but when Kyagulanyi campaigns you want him to follow the law,” he added.
He has called on the international community to intervene lest so many youths will lose their lives.
