As the year comes to an end through the various festivities, Kimilili Member of Parliament Suleiman Kasuti Murunga has called upon residents of his constituency and those residing in Bungoma County at large to desist from peddling tribal hatred by wanting members of certain communities to vacate the County.
Speaking after visiting various churches in his constituency during Christmas day Murunga said every individual regardless of his or her tribe has a right to reside anywhere in the country and to carry out any legal activity as long as it is licensed by the government.
“I have received reports that some people are still distributing leaflets asking members of a certain tribes to vacate Bungoma County, such habits should stop. As Kenyans we should live together in peace as it has been before.” He said.
Murunga further called upon the security agents to be on alert all the time to ensure the residents are well guarded this festive season saying with the many activities going on some people may take advantage of the situation to carry out illegal activities.
Murunga called upon youths, men and women in the constituency to continue forming groups so as to benefit from the several funds put in place by the national government as well as the county government saying with only less than two years to the general election they have to benefit from the funds to uplift their lifestyle.
He applauded the efforts of the groups that benefitted from the first batch of Uwezo fund in Kimilili constituency saying they have so far returned up to 2 million shillings to the kitty and will go a long way to benefit other groups that will apply for the fund.
.
Regarding bursaries he said the CDF management committee has already vetted and allocated money to the needy students in secondary schools as well as colleges and universities and the cheques will be ready by Monday 28th December saying they have to ensure the students do not fail to get back to school.
However he called upon parents to set aside some funds to supplement the bursary as it cannot be able to cater fully for the school fees of the children for the whole year saying the parents have to be responsible and pay the remaining fees.
