Kiminini constituency is one of the five Sub-Counties in Trans-Nzoia County, it had a total of 93,240 registered voters within its six administrative wards which include; Nabiswa that had a total of 18, 730 registered voters , Waitaluk which had a total of 18,759 registered voters , Kiminini ward which had a total of 17,302 registered voters ,Sirende ward had a total of 12,311 registered voters, Sikhendu which had a total of 11,573 registered voters and Hospital ward that had a total of 14,565 registered voters.
On Tuesday, 9th August 2022, voters in various parts of the Sub-County came out in large numbers to vote for their preferred candidates within the 159 polling stations. They had a peaceful voting and after waiting for about 48 hours, Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) tallying center in Kiminini constituency under the leadership of returning officer Mr. Peter Resa broke the silence and anxiety among the residents by announcing the results.
Out of the seven candidates who vied for Trans-Nzoia County gubernatorial seat, George Natembeya of Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) garnered 39,378 votes followed by Chrisantus Wamalwa of Ford Kenya party who garnered 14,488 votes.
On senatorial seat, the Sub-County had to vote for twelve candidates who vied for Trans-Nzoia senatorial ticket and out the 12; Allan Chesang of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) got 22,545 votes followed by Joshua Werunga of Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) who garnered 13,731 votes.
County Woman Member of the national Assembly position attracted a total of 9 candidates who contested for Trans-Nzoia seat. Of the 9; Khatundi Phanice of DAP-K garnered a total of 16,090 votes followed closely by Lilian Chebet Siyoi of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) who gathered 15,739 votes.
On the parliamentary docket, Maurice Kakai Bisau of DAP-K won the race by gathering 29,532 votes amongst the nine candidates who vied for Kiminini parliamentary seat. He was followed by Joseph Dabodabo of Ford Kenya party who got 15, 412 votes.
On the six administrative wards, Simiyu Jemanuru Martin of DAP-K won the Nabiswa Member of County Assembly by gathering 5,366 votes. He was followed by Ruth Juma of Ford Kenya party who got with 2,531 votes.
Hon. Kutitila Andrew Sichangi of Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) won the Sikhendu Member of County Assembly by gathering 2450 votes. Kutitila was followed closely by Masinde Robert Simiyu of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) who got 2,303 votes.
Hospital ward had a total of 15 candidates who contested for the Member of County Assembly seat and of the 15, Wafula Erick Wekhomba of DAP-K won by gathering 2,561 votes. He was followed by Mugambi Henry Githinji of UDA who gathered 1,349 votes.
Alfred Weswa Wafula of DAP-K won the Sirende ward Member of County Assembly with 2,272 votes. Matui Philip Kipng’etich of UDA came second with 1314 votes. BKS Lusweti Furaha won the Waitaluk ward seat by gathering 3,647 votes against his close competitor Makhanu Simon Nyongesa who garnered 2,500 votes.
Finally, Kiminini Ward had a total of 17 candidates that contested for the Kiminini Member of County Assembly docket and among them, Machinga Joshua Amwai of Ford Kenya party won by garnering 1877 votes. He was closely followed by Waswa Baraka Wafula of Democratic Action Party of Kenya who garnered 1696 votes.
