Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya has replaced Garissa Township MP Aden Duale as the National Assembly Majority Leader in Junior parliamentary changes made on Monday. The change was announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta, who chaired the Jubilee parliamentary group meeting at KICC that lasted less than 30 minutes.
Speaking after the PG meeting, Kimunya said he doesn’t take the appointment lightly, promising to do his best to serve not only the party but Kenya as a whole with the issues that need to be addressed. He also appreciated the dedicated service that Duale has rendered, “We know he is still a big asset to this country and we’ll continue using his expertise and experience.” He further lauded MPs of the party who obeyed the President’s call to convene for the parliamentary group meeting.
Other changes include Eldas MP Adan Keynan taking over as the Jubilee PG secretary, Kangema MP Muturi Kigano takes over the chairmanship of the Justice, Legal Affairs Committee, Kanini Kega replaces Kimani Ichungwa at the Budget Committee, while Uasin Gishu woman representative Gladys Shollei has been axed from the delegated legislation committee.
