King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands are on a three-day state visit to Kenya starting Tuesday, March 18, to Thursday, March 20, 2025 in an inaugural visit extended at the invitation of President William Ruto
Early Tuesday morning, the King and Queen were received at State house Nairobi by President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto who were flanked by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja among other government officials
The state visit signifies a pivotal moment in Kenya-Netherlands relations, aiming to bolster existing partnerships and explore new avenues of cooperation with the Netherlands having been a steadfast ally to Kenya, engaging in various sectors such as trade, agriculture, water management, and healthcare. During the three-day stay, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima have a series of engagements that will run from the Official Welcome and State Banquet where the royal couple will engage in after being officially received by President Ruto at State House, Nairobi, followed by a state banquet in their honor.
