The Kipchoge Keino stadium in Kapsabet will be renamed the Eliud Kipchoge Sports Complex, according to Nandi Governor Stephen Sang. The stadium which is still under construction comprises of a training hall and a modern gymnasium.
Speaking to the press, Governor Sang revealed that the stadium will be named after the new world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge who broke David Kimetto’s record at the Berlin Marathon on Sunday. He finished the race in 2 hours 1 minute and 39 seconds.
The Nandi Governor said that the renaming goes a long way, with the expected naming of a residential training camp under construction also expected. He congratulated Kipchoge for his exemplary performance of not only winning the Berlin Marathon but also breaking the record and entering the record books.
