The KCPE exams begun smoothly countrywide, with more than a million pupils sitting for the exam. Speaking in Kakamega, Education PS Belio Kipsang confirmed that in Western region, exams have begun well and that the same applies to to the national situation, “From what we’ve seen we should give them an opportunity to do exams. We should not put pressure on them, we should let them give their best,” he said.
He said there is going to be a total transition so that each candidate will have a place in secondary schools come January, adding that they should be given the opportunity so that in January they can be prepared to go to school. “I call upon the parents, guardians and all Kenyans to make sure these kids are allowed to go to Form One in the schools they’ll be admitted to so that they can realize their full potential,” said Kipsang.
He said the government has already done sufficient investment and will put up more facilities in schools like labs to facilitate education, “We have already bought books for every child from Form One to Form Four, we have medical schemes for the children,” he said. The last KCPE paper will be done on Thursday, November 1st.
