The principal secretary in the Ministry of Education Belio Kipsang today visited Kapsabet Boys High School and St Joseph’s Girls High school Chepterit in Nandi to give an explanation about the missing exam papers yesterday, meant for the two schools.
Kipsang assured students in the two schools that the Ministry of Interior together with the Teachers Service Commission have put up measures to ensure candidates have equal opportunities to safely do their examinations.
He assured them that yesterday’s hiccup was just a confusion in packaging and the problem has been resolved, allowing the exams to go on well.
Concerning the vice of impersonation that has been witnessed in various regions in the country, Belio said it is a private candidates’ practice because they register but are not in the school system.
He revealed that as a ministry, they have increased their vigilance in centres that are dealing with such private candidates to ensure everything is within the framework and standards set out by the Kenya National Examinations Council.
He added that the systems have been put in place to ensure such incidences are discovered and dealt with quite quickly, saying quite a number of the impersonators have been arraigned and charged in courts.
