The managemnt of Kisiwa Technical Training Institute in Kabuchai constituency has exonerated itself from claims of a security lapse in the institution after a student was stabbed by her husband.
Charles Opiyo, the institute’s deputy principal, said it is unfortunate that the student who resides outside the institution was attacked by the husband. He is not a student there but he managed to trace her to her house.
He said the family was informed in time and disclosed that the student had separated from the husband, and that the incident could be a desperate move from him after he was rejected by the lady. Mr. Opiyo added that the culprit managed to escape after the incident but the police are pursuing him, stating that the institute has put in place measures to ensure the students are safe.
He disclosed that they have sought services of a private security firm, combined with police officers who look after the institute and the hostel section, affirming that parents and students should not panic. The patient is recuperating at Elgon view hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.
