The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) officials-KNUN Nandi County branch secretary Amos Ng’etich, KNUN chairman John Bii, and Jophinus Musundi-have urged striking nurses countrywide to return to work as they continue with negotiations. They said these in a press statement issued at the Kapsabet County referral hospital.
They said that nurses can’t be on strike, demanding for the implementation of the CBA yet job evaluations haven’t been conducted and that their grievances are on the negotiation table between the union and the Council of Governors.
They revealed that they had earlier made it clear that the strike was unnecessary because it was illegal but the nurses were deceived by some few individuals who wanted to satisfy their greedy needs, and they blamed the Union secretary general Seth Panyako.
They applauded the efforts made by Nandi Governor Stephen Sang to deal with the corruption issues facing the health docket in the County, “We welcome the move by the Governor to suspend the County’s top health officials and we urge him to continue dealing with corrupt officials,” they said.
