All the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) executive secretaries from across Nandi were re-elected to serve for a third time consecutively in the union general elections that were conducted on Saturday.
The unionists include Stephen Misoi of Nandi south who is also the acting KNUT first National trustee chairman, Bonface Tenai of Nandi East/Tindiret, Bernard Maiyo of Nandi Central and Josphat Serem of Nandi North respectively. The executive secretaries were re-elected unopposed in an election exercise that was conducted democratically in all the Five sub-counties of Nandi.
Although the election witnessed low turnout of members, the exercise went on smoothly as members who came in to vote were accorded their democratic right to choose their leaders.
Speaking after the process of voting, the elected officials lauded the efforts of the Knut members for considering them to serve for a third period, promising to work together as a team with all teachers to ensure their needs are catered for accordingly.
Nandi south Knut executive secretary Mr Stephen Misoi thanked the teachers for believing in him vowing to unite them and push for their demands adding that he is really happy for being re-elected again. He said that Knut is still a strong union for teachers despite being marred with some wrangles which has seen mass transfers of members to other unions.
