Koitalel Samoei University, Mosoriot Branch in Nandi is planning to set up a sports academy that will help the nurture talented students. Speaking during the second edition of Athletics Kenya cross country competition held at the University, the university principal Professor Gideon Misoi confirmed that plans are underway to set up the academy.
Misoi revealed that the academy will support their mission to promote and nurture talents from across Nandi County, which is famous for its athletics exploits. He lauded the efforts of Athletics Kenya (AK) for sponsoring the 2nd Edition of the Athletics Kenya cross country competition which saw the upcoming athletes from across the country participate.
The principal also said the institution intends to introduce more academic programs, including sports science, which will be advertised soon.Former cross country bronze and double silver medalist Charles Yosei emerged the winner in the Men’s category while in the Women’s category, the former steeplechase bronze medalist Sheila Chelagat took the lead.
