The Kolanya Boys Boarding Primary school fraternity in Teso North Sub County, Busia County, has received a helping hand of 50 mattresses from the Teso North constituency development fund to be used by the affected pupils whose personal belongings were razed down after the largest dormitory in the school was burned down a few days ago.
The mattresses were presented to the school head teacher Mr. Paul Ekwenye by the constituency manager Ronald Ochalu on behalf of area Member of parliament Dr. Oku Kaunya.
The head teacher thanked the office of the area member of parliament for the mattresses and urged other leaders including well-wishers to come in handy and give more support to the school.
‘’All personal effects including school boxes and books belonging to a total of 180 pupils were completely burned down in last Monday’s fire that we suspect was caused by electric fault. The 50 mattresses we have received from the CDF is just but a drop in the ocean.’’
However, area member of the County assembly Grace Olita, made a personal donation of 10,00Ksh to the school early Tuesday morning and promised to lobby for more help in the coming days. Investigations to unravel the cause of the fire are ongoing.
